What is an AISP under PSD2?
An Account Information Service Provider (AISP) is a regulated entity authorized to access a customer's bank account data — with their consent — under the EU's PSD2 open banking rules. Catego is a licensed AISP supervised by Latvijas Banka.
Which banks does Catego's open banking API cover?
Most of the banks across the Baltic states, including Swedbank, SEB, Luminor, Citadele, and Revolut, etc.
Is this the same as transaction categorization?
No — open banking (AISP) is about accessing account and transaction data itself. Categorization is a separate service that classifies that data once you have it. Many customers use both together.
How is the connection secured?
Access follows PSD2's strong customer authentication (SCA) requirements, and Catego operates under active EBA/Latvijas Banka regulatory registration — see the registry links below.
How long is bank consent valid, and how often can data be refreshed?
Under PSD2, a customer's bank consent is valid for up to 180 days. During this period, it is possible to refresh account and transaction data as often as the bank allows — typically up to 4x times per day. After 180 days, the customer must re-authenticate to continue data access.
